LearnEnglish Pathways is a series of eight self-study courses for adult learners of English at A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels of the Common European Framework.
What do the courses involve?
Each of the eight courses is between 30 and 45 hours long and aims to develop learners’ language through a variety of interactive online lessons. The courses are designed for self-study and require little or no support.
You are required to apply for a minimum of one whole level (A1, A2, B1 or B2) which includes two courses.
It is important to stress that the courses provide essential language practice and they are not designed to progress you through the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) levels.
The eight courses are mapped against the levels of the CEFR in the following way:
- A1 – Elementary 1
- A1 – Elementary 2
- A2 – Pre-Intermediate 1
- A2 – Pre-Intermediate 2
- B1 – Intermediate 1
- B1 – Intermediate 2
- B2 – Upper Intermediate 1
- B2 – Upper Intermediate 2
Each course consists of six units and each unit covers a different topic (family, travel, business, etc.), explored through audio and video recordings, text and pictures.
Each unit is divided into five sections that consist of five to ten activities in Adobe Flash.
Typical activities are quizzes, fill-in-the-gaps, connecting, grouping, etc.
Basic level in each unit has a video chapter, too.
Chapters end with material summary and a mini test.
How are the courses delivered?
LearnEnglish Pathways materials are available on our online-learning system Moodle and can be installed on your learning management system, too.
On our Moodle site, each student is given their own account. This means that students can always check their progress and grades, since all grades are automatically being saved to this system.
Teachers can also check progress and grades of all students from their online ‘diaries’.
Content of our LearnEnglish Pathways is coordinated with the SCORM 2007 program and can be used and installed on other learning management systems out of our office (Moodle and Blackboard). It means that schools/organisations who have their own learning management system can offer LearnEnglish Pathways to their students.
